While Invisalign aligners aren’t invisible they’re very inconspicuous. In most cases you’ll be able to have conversations with friends and family without them even realising that you’re wearing your aligners. We have samples of different aligners in our Langley Road Dental Practice, your dentist will show you the different types during your consultation. 

There is no evidence to suggest that they will, however as with any traditional orthodontic treatment, it may take a little while to get used to wearing them. You may have a slight lisp at first, but you’ll quickly get used to your aligners and should be talking clearly and confidently within a few days. 

Invisalign also has the benefit of having no metal wires or brackets, which can sometimes cause discomfort at the beginning of treatment. At the beginning of Invisalign treatment some people may experience mild discomfort for one or two days when they insert a new aligner. Our patients at Langley Road dental Practicey describe it as a feeling of pressure on the teeth, this is a normal sign that the aligners are doing their job.

Invisalign clear aligners are virtually invisible — people may not even notice you’re wearing them. You can remove them to eat and drink, to brush and floss, or for special occasions. There are no metal brackets or wires that could irritate your mouth or break. 

Unlike other brands, Invisalign clear aligners are made from patented SmartTrack material, which is more comfortable and provides a better fit.1 Invisalign aligners are also trimmed based on your gum line for comfort and appearance. Invisalign only work while you are wearing them. We recommend they are worn full time day and night (min 22–24 hours). 
Each aligner is worn for 2 weeks, (before moving onto the next in the series), moving your teeth millimeter by millimeter, week by week, until you reach your desired result. 

Treatment length will vary depending on your case, but the average Clear Aligner treatment is nine to eighteen months. 
During treatment you should visit us periodically, until it is determined that your treatment is complete. 
Once active treatment is complete, there may be some fine tuning to create that perfect smile. 

To achieve optimum results, Invisalign aligners need to be worn for around 20 to 22 hours a day, but you can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing and contact sports. During your initial consultation your dentist will give you more guidance on this.
